PROJECT SUMMARY
Former Bulk Petroleum Plant & Cardlock Facility Remediation
Remediation & Reclamation

Resolve Earthworks & Environmental Ltd. was awarded the contract to remediate a former bulk petroleum plant and cardlock facility. The site posed logistical challenges due to it’s proximity to roadways, walking pathways, local businesses and residences, the river, overhead and underground utilities around the excavation, and limited access from surrounding roadways. Resolve was awarded the project based on its overall price and proposed work plan, as well as its safety record and proven capabilities on similar projects.
The project scope included the following:
Coordination with site owner, environmental consultant, and regional municipality to develop a work plan agreeable to all parties.
Utility disconnection and daylighting to confirm no active utilities in areas of excavation.
Test pitting program to delineate impacted areas and acquire landfill approval.
Construction of temporary site access over walking paths for truck and equipment access and egress.
Clearing and grubbing overgrown vegetation on site.
Excavation and stockpiling of overburden soil & topsoil.
Excavation, transport and disposal of ~12,700 tonnes of impacted soils to a Class II landfill.
Backfill and compaction of excavated area using stockpiled overburden materials and imported clean fill.
Removal and offsite disposal of miscellaneous debris and waste uncovered and generated during site works.
Final site grading with topsoil replacement following backfilling.
Installation of new chain link fencing to secure site following excavation activities.
