Downstream UST Decomm, Site Remediation
Decommissioning & Demolition, Remediation & Reclamation

Resolve Earthworks & Environmental Ltd. was awarded the contract to decommission a gas station site including demolition of the canopy, removal of fuel pumps, lines, and underground storage tanks (USTs), and soil remediation. The work area was very limited for space, with the site being located along a high traffic roadway. The convenience store remained open for the duration of the project which posed additional safety related challenges to the project.

Complete utility locates and disconnection of select utilities to allow for demolition and UST removal.
Demolition of canopy and removal of fuel pumps.
Removal and offsite recycling of asphalt and concrete over area of excavation.
Excavation and on-site stockpiling of clean soils above tank basin.
UST system removal including inerting, cleaning, removal from ground, destruction and offsite disposal of four (4) tanks and all associated piping.
Excavation, stockpiling, transport and disposal of ~240 mt of hydrocarbon impacted soils to a licensed soil treatment facility.
Backfill and compaction of excavated areas with both stockpiled imported clean fill.
Reinstate asphalt over area of excavation and paint new parking lines.
The convenience store remained fully operational for the duration of the project, and the project was completed successfully with no health & safety related incidents.
