Remediation & Reclamation


Resolve Earthworks & Environmental Ltd. was awarded the contract to remediate a former electrical substation. The work area was located near a provincial highway and immediately adjacent to a newly constructed electrical substation.
Resolve was awarded the project based on its overall price and proposed work plan, as well as its safety record and proven capabilities on similar projects.
The project scope included the following:
Acquisition of Roadside Development Permit from Alberta Transportation.
Coordination with client and environmental consultant to develop the most cost-effective work plan to complete the remedial activities.
Completion of five test pits to delineate impacted soils and collect samples for landfill approval.
Stripping and salvage of existing site gravel to be reused onsite.
Excavate, break, load and haul concrete pads offsite for recycling (~95m3).
Removal and offsite disposal of site infrastructure including power pole stubs (80), power pole anchors (36), pilings (91), and cable trays (2).
Cut off remaining conduits and cables below grade.
Removal and offsite disposal of miscellaneous surface debris.
Excavation, stockpiling, transport and disposal of ~320 mt of hydrocarbon impacted soils to a Class II landfill.
Backfill and track packing of excavated areas with imported clean clay fill and gravel.
Regrade site for the purposes of being used as a laydown yard.
