PROJECT SUMMARY

Bank Stabilization In-Stream

Environmental Construction, Special Project

Resolve Earthworks & Environmental Ltd. was direct awarded this work after successfully completing in-stream projects for the client.


The project scope included the following:

  • Due to a washout at high runoff the bank and roadway were eroded and in need of repair.

  • Multiple parties involved with the pre-planning and execution. Client project team, Environmental Consultant, Alberta Environment and The Department of Fisheries and Oceans (D.F.O).

  • Supply and install a temporary coffer dam to divert flow away from work area.

  • Install erosion control materials to ensure no turbidity changes within the river, downstream of the work area.

  • Site specific ECO Plan and Health And Safety Plan were developed to ensure construction was completed within the strict site permitting requirements as set out by Alberta Environment and D.F.O.

  • Specialized erosion control measures were implemented to comply with the surface runoff and water management plan for pre and post construction.

  • Fish salvage was completed prior to construction activities.

  • All work was executed as per design drawing and confirmed in the field via site inspection and survey.

  • Construction was inspected by design engineering firm and Alberta Environment with no recommendations or infractions.

  • Existing road materials were re-used post bank armouring and culvert installation.

  • To bring local value to the area during the construction, local subcontractors were prequalified and utilized when available.
